It’s once again Open House at the Trinity Site. This Sat Apr 1.

This is Ben Benjamin. He’s the only guy I ever met who was there when it went Ka-Boom.
Ben was a Army Buck Sergeant Photographer- Instrumentation Tech.
I asked him about how they set up the cameras.
He told me they really didn’t what settings to use, so they used a bunch.
Some got pics, some got holes burned in the film.

First time I visited Trinity I went out with a crazy Army UH-1 pilot.

Great ride in that Huey.

I've been out six times since. Last time was on by bicycle from San Antonio with the New Mexico Touring Society. A flat, easy ride compared to riding in Wyo.

Trinity is a fascinating place with a terrific piece of American history.

Everyone should visit to gain a different appreciation for the "Greatest Generation" and what they did for us.

My father was stationed at Los Alamos during the time Manhattan Project was developing the bomb. He had a piece to Trinitite from the Trinity Site.

Mo Trivia.
The Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe don’t go to Santa Fe.
At least not the main line.
So - if you are assigned to work on the Manhattan Project, where do you get off the Train?
Lamy, NM, same as everyone else.
Ben Benjamin says he got off the train and sure enough there was a GI waiting to take him up on the ‘Hill.’ Los Alamos.
He told Ben I am stationed inside the Second Wire. You are going inside the Third Wire. We never see those guys again!
Ben thought, what did I get myself into?
When the first Atomic Bomb dropped on Japan was announced, Ben was on leave back home in Minnesota.
He told his parents that’s what I’ve been working on.
He said they were silent and just looked at him.
