Wanted to use my "Cabelas Cash" at the Hamburg store, but there was nothing online that matched my interest and the amount I had earned.

Someone on another forum suggested that I go and look for the guns that had not yet been listed online.

He was spot on.

This .30 WCF Winchester 94 dates to 1932.
Depths of the Great Depression.
I am happy with the pre-WWII date and the original condition. I do not mind the wear to the finish.
My kind of gun.
My eyes, however, are almost as old as the gun, and I will need to use a Lyman No. 2 in order to get any accuracy.

Wow, nice one. Exciting days effort.
I'm still looking for a pre war .25-35, and I did get a same age as me .30-30 in almost perfect condition.
I love those almost as much as Heavy Dutys:)

BTW: if you got a source for the right tang sight, would you let me know? Please..

Very nice. Has character. That old girl needs to go back out in the field.

Nice gun!

That would more accurately be described as a "Transitional 94 (Carbine)". I think of a "Prewar Carbine" as a later variation with a type 55 butt plate. Transitional almost always have a serial number that begins with 111 and feature a carbine butt, the "new style" ramp front sight/barrel band and a series 22 rear sight. You'll note that your rear sight dovetail is 1" closer to the receiver than on later 94 Carbines.

When I took it home I noticed that one of the previous owners left his mark in the metal of the butt plate, three times.

We will never know why he stopped at three.
