New old 32

Picked up a new(to me) revolver that I don't know what to make of today. I spotted it in the gun library at my local cabelas, where it was listed as "Smith&Wesson Police, Pre-War". I'm still pretty new to revolvers as a whole, so I could use some help figuring out what it is. S/N on the front strap of the grip shows 518894.

It is a Regulation Police in 32 long from the 1930s assuming the grips number to the gun. You would need a letter to find out exactly when, and to where, it shipped. The silver medallions in the grips started about 1930. I have SN 439824 which shipped in 1927.

These guns were shipping all over the '30's. Here are some known ship dates but you can't really draw a conclusion about exactly when yours shipped.

.32 RP serial 518475 shipped in August 1936.
.32 RP serial 523657 shipped in March 1930.
.32 RP serial 523736 shipped in May 1936.
