Triple K Magazines

I have a Remington Model 51 .380acp semi-auto pistol that I would like a magazine for.
Triple K is the only manufacturer that I have found who has them.
Opinions of Triple K ? a

I'll never buy anything from 3K again.
I purchased 2 spare magazines for a Browning pistol. When they arrived, 1 wouldn't fit in the mag well and the other fit but wouldn't lock into the magazine lock. They are useless and currently sit in a box of junk.

It depends a bit on the pistol as some are pickier than others but in general Triple K are the option of last resort for magazines.

Fit can be an issue but my biggest beef with them are improperly hardened feed lips that won’t hold their shape.

I've had half a dozen and every one was ****. "Last resort" is an apt description.

I have never found them to be of very good quality. They often don't fit right out of their package.
The floor plate configurations, and overall size can vary quite a lot from what the factory mag they are replacing. Just a cosmetic difference but on many guns lke a replacement for a classic Military pistol, it really makes a visual difference.

I've had best luck with many Meg-Gar replacement magazines. But they are not always a simple slide in replacement either and not available for the variety that Trip-K offers.

What mags do you need?,,Like cndrdk says someone here may have an original of what you need.

They are not as good as Mec-Gar , not as well made and the materials they use are okay but not great ... there can be some rough edges .

The good news ... clean up the any rough edges or burrs and they do work and work rather well .
I bought one for a 1911 45 acp AMT Hardballer , a Star model PS - 45 acp and one for Walther PPK (WWII era) .
Some pistols do not have easily found replacement magazines ... so it's 3-K or nothing .
They are not my first choice but they are serviceable and when they are the only replacements you can find ... they can do quite nicely .
Take them apart and smooth all rough edges , look at follower and feed lips ...sometimes they get bent and benifit from polishing and adjustment ... Bottom Line ... Better Than Nothing and with a bit of TLC not bad .

Sometimes just a bit better than ProMag, but not always, and I think you know the reputation of ProMag, absolute junk!
Tell us what you need s several others have asked! You have been around long enough to know you need to ask a complete question in order to get any sort of answer!

My only experience with Triple K was with Mini-14 magazines and some small .32 pocket pistols.(Astra, Browning, others)

All were junk that did not function properly.

I've had mixed results with Triple K. Eventually I decided that whenever OEM mags were available, even at two or three times the cost of TK, I'd pony up.

I'd only chance it if nothing else was available or as BB57 and glenwolde put it, "Last resort"

In my experience with their magazines, which has been fairly considerable, the old ones that were made in the US were at least pretty good and were guaranteed to fit and function. Mostly they did. The new ones, which I believe are made in Mexico, stamped out of old beer cans, not heat treated and finished badly, have a "don't fit, don't work" rate of about 90%. Sometimes they will be your only option but you must be prepared to eat a lot of bad ones or return a lot of them until you get a couple that actually work.

I think I got some Triple K mags for one of my funky .32 pistols, a Zastava IIRC. Seemed to work OK, but general word on these is that the make is pretty hit and miss.

If you look up the word "junk" in the dictionary, I expect you might find a picture of a Triple K magazine. I've bought several over the years (mostly because I'm a slow learner and an optimist) but my experience has been that it's a lot like playing a slot machine - you might get a big payoff but the odds are very much against it.

I've had mixed results with Triple K magazines. But the real issue is, that for some pistols, they're the only option without spending a ton of cash on an original magazine. I was given some for a High Standard slant style 22 pistol and one worked great, while another one the solder floor plate came apart. Also have one for a Colt Vest Pocket that works fine and a Stenda pistol that works okay.

I have a Remington 51 in 380 like yours, and it came with the original magazine. Finding originals for this pistol are not that difficult, eBay has them often, but the prices for one are usually around $100 or more.
