I have a TL that's been modified to fire .45 Colt. It's a good shooter but nothing to write home about. It has later model grips and I've been looking for some re-pop TL grips with no success.

Anyone know of re-man TL grips for sale? I'd like to have an original look but I'm not willing to spring for good original grips even if they could be found.

Presuming your converted .45 Colt was originally a first model .455 Mk II British Service Revolver, the proper stocks are out there - service style, checkered, gold washed medallions.

A quick search found these, but (even though being promoted as 1910-1920 period correct) they are smooth with silver medallions. Also, a decent original set will be in the same price range.

Smith & Wesson N Frame 1910 - 1920 Walnut Grips With Medallions

Good luck in your search.

Regarding your accuracy: the bore on teh 455 is slightly larger than the standare 452 colt sized bullets. You might consider reloading with cast bullet closer to the bore 454 or 455 size. JMHO.

Your Brit TL needs the deep set medallion service grips. They are not too hard to find as they were also used on the 1937 Brazilian version of the 10117 Army.

If your TL started life as a British 455, the only correct grips are the checkered Svc grips with recessed gold plated medallions. These were never reproduced. And long obsolete by the time of the Brazilian 1917s. But about 95,000 pairs were made for the 455s and 44 TLs/2nd Models between 1910 - 1920. So they aren't that hard to find, and not too pricey if you need them in less than perfect condition to match the wear on your gun.
