Triplelock barrel marking Q.

I saw a triplelock with s/n 6XX with the barrel stamped as "44 S&W CTG"
Does this mean it still shoots the 44 S&W special cartridge or does it shoot a different cartridge ?
I've seen other triplelocks with the barrel stamped "44 S&W special CTG".
So does this mean the factory had two different barrel stampings for the same cartridge ? I'm confused.

There is a .44 S&W cartridge, but I doubt the TL would have been chambered for it. Someone with an early example can confirm, but I think I've seen a photo of one with the stamping you describe.
 
This is a .44 Special. It is how the earlier Triple Locks were marked:

Of course, the Birmingham proof marks were not applied by S&W.
