Went to the range today with my TRR8. Approx. 750 rounds through it. I had moonclips loaded with reloads that I have loaded through the gun before. Between 1 and 3 of the 8 rounds would not fire. By chance, I had some factory .38's and when I loaded them in both the moonclip and/or just loaded them into the gun- same problem. The primer does have a small dent in it:confused: Bad spring? Any thoughts appreciated:confused: It would appear that the hammer is not pushing down on the firing pin hard enough.

Could be the California approved firing pin. Heard they shortened some of these for the drop tests. You can easily swap the pin and it should work fine. I would contact S&W first to see if it can be covered under the warranty. Course, I wouldn't hold my breath- S&W actually broke one of my revolvers while it was there for repair. They then returned it to me damaged and refused to fix it. I had basically a very slight slow time issue. I was told to send it in, they screwed up, broke the gun then refused to address it by taking the low road, telling me to pound sand- that it was now out of warranty. Suffice to say, I'll wait till they sell the company before buying any more of their products.

bought a brand new Ruger SP101 in CA..went to the range, would not fire 1 round due to light striking..had to ship it out for repairs..came back in 2 weeks fixed, they would not not tell me what repairs were performed, this was 327 federal model.I am sure it was the firing pin being too short.
