Does anyone know of a website where I can find them for cheap? I'm looking for cheap... I'm assuming the snap variety is the cheapest.

I picked up a used truck today for light driving when I don't need the 4x4. A 2000 Dodge Dakota.. smaller, lighter, rear wheel drive, better on gas. The price was right.. I couldn't resist. I like having the covers, but I don't want one of the hard ones that open with a hinge. If I want to get something larger in the bed, they're very inconvenient... So I want a soft cover that's easy to remove.

Thanks,
Ski

1-800-ACCESS

Mine cost $450 in 2002. I have an employee who has had one since 2000.... They are simply the best. My next truck choice would be based on the availability of an Access cover for it.

The cheap ones can't be undone in cold weather because you can't get them back on unless you park your truck in a heated garage. In less than 2 years the vinyl layer gets cracks in it and anything in your bed gets wet. Did mention the snaps pull out of the vinyl? Most of the ones with snaps or the newer ziplock system in the end are wadded up in the front of the bed with a concrete block sitting on them to keep them from flapping around. The ones that roll up like a mini garage door when covered with ice and snow are unopenable until they thaw out.

If you want inexpensive, get a heavy duty water proof poly tool locker and cable Lock it to your truck bed so you can swtch it between trucks. Handy for chain saws, tow straps, jumper cables, jacks and other tools you want to keep secure.

x tang makes quality inexpensive covers. They are a PIA in the winter. Get the zip lock style. Put a piece of plywood in the bed that runs from gate to cab. With the tonneau still in place you can drop the gate, and pull the the plywood back to access stuff you put up front. I don't think I've ever unsnapped my tonneau.

I have a RollnLock cover on my Titan Crewcab and it has worked out very well over the last 6 years. It is vinyl covered steel that can be locked with a key and the cover can also lock in notches slightly open for hauling long items and there is no need to tie-down the items. In my experience any kind of soft cover will be found "open", because someone will want to look inside in search of something to steal. The Rollnlock is of course, more expensive but if something you have gets stolen, then it might be cheaper in the long run.

I've used a 450.00 "Torza Top" by Advantage on the last three trucks in a row.

It's hands down the best I've ever used. Tri-fold style, locks in open mode if needed, no snaps. It uses four clips at the corners to lock to the truck bed, so installation out of the box takes less than five minutes [most of that time used to square it up perfectly before locking it down.] To open it, drop the gate, undo two clips and fold it back. With my locking tailgate, and even though covers are fabric and you could cut them in a second, it does add a measure of security that it can't be accessed without lowering the tailgate.

The two forward clips have safety locking pins, so it's not going anywhere.

Comes in a "normal" vinyl finish, or the one I use, a "rag-top" finish...[think the textured finish on a convertible.]

My current cover has been on in sun, rain, snow for four years now, and looks as good as the day I got it.

I've had an Access cover on my pickup for 7 years. No fading or cracking, adjusts for tension, have used it in hot summer as well as -40 in the winter. Rolls completely out of the way when not in use, no snaps involved. A product that truly works!

I have had an x-tang on my truck since 1999 it's not in bad shape now it is the one that can be lifted from the back ,or un snapped . One thing i like about it is the snaps along the sides and the support bows can be used in 2 positions to loosen the tarp in winter or tighten in the summer. I carry 2 handicapped scooters under it and they stay dry
