Anyone using the TruGlo reflex red dot? Not a beginner with the AR but a beginner getting into the sighting game as compared to open sights. Been researching it and haven’t found a bad review.

You should be ok. I had their old red dot / laser combo. Though big, bulky and heavy, it worked very well. I currently have a large Holosun reflex which is great imo. It's like watching a large flat screen. Good quality and very fast acquiring the target.

I too went with a Holosun, 510c-green; liked the value for all the features. I know there are many options in a lower price point (and higher), I just felt this one covered what I was looking for.

I have a crimson trace red dot on my Sport II. It has no magnification and was wondering if it should if I wanted to use the rifle at longer ranges. Any cheap suggestions?

3x tip off magnifier used in conjunction with your red dot.

Actual red dot optics are 1x only. Depending on distance and eye sight, only you can answer if you need additional magnification.

If you have good vision, you should be able to hit a 9" circle (avg human head / front) at 300 meters with only hard sights / red dot.

Thanks. I guess what I’m looking for is the option to be able to see farther. Someone else suggested a X3 magnifier that would be placed in front of the red dot…

In that price range I’d recommend you also look into the SIG Romeo 5, they’re in an entirely different class altogether, but similarly priced.

Oh okay wow…I hadn’t really thought of how far I could. I have good eye sight. Maybe I should practice with what I have before I look for more gear. Thank you.

Well just picked up the TruGlo sight. Feels very solid, mounts nice and tight with no adapter needed. If the battery ever dies my Magpul rear sight can still be used with no interference. Going to take it to the range and get it sighted in next week. Love the fact that it has 4 different sight options and duel color. 2.5 and 5 moa, single dot or reticle with 2.5 and/or 5 moa dot, green and red colors with brightness options. For $100 , not bad for my first reflex sight.

The sighting in took a while to get too. Shortly after my last post I came down with COVID. Didn’t hit me or my family nearly as bad as some but more like the regular flu, my son got lucky and tested positive but a symptomatic. Still sucked but oh well.

Got to the 25yrd indoor range using a sighting target, bull is about 3 inches. By the time I was finished I was hitting 1-2 inch groups on a 2 point sling sitting down, no block or bipod. Needless to say I’m pretty impressed by it. Open sights at 25yrds I was hitting about 2-3 inch groups.

Verdict- I like it.

Actually, the magnifier is attached to the rail BEHIND the RD optic.
The Burris 3x magnifier in the pic is attached to a LaRue QD Pivot mount.
