Tube Type Red Dot For Semi Auto Pistol

I am having trouble seeing my irons with or without glasses . I shoot indoors during cold weather and sometimes in the summer . I shoot from 10 yards to 25 yards at the indoor range .

I have tried friends reflex type sights and do not find them easy to pick up the dot . I have been told the tube type red dots are much easier to use .

I need some advise on picking a tube type red dot , including dot size and the close ranges I shoot indoors . Is there a parallax effect with tube dot sights ? My budget can allow $200.00 max .

Open to all suggestions . This is going on a Smith & Wesson Victory 22cal.

I have lots of experience with scoped rifles but am totally new to any red dots .

For just about $90 (sometime little less) I like the Bushnell TRS-25. I have one on my Buckmark and a 2nd one is currently on a 15-22. The 2nd one will find a home on a SW22 once the threaded version is released.

I do most of my shooting at 25 yards on an indoor range and they work fine for me.

First think about what type of shooting you are going to do because that will drive the size dot you want, which will affect which red dots you can buy. For example, if you are doing target shooting for precision that is slower and more deliberate, you may want a 2 MOA dot. For action style shooting where you are quickly transitioning between man-size targets, 4 MOA or even 8 MOA may be the ticket.

Whatever you decide, the UltraDot brand is hard to beat in your price point, although they are probably just over $200. I know every time I call Optics Planet, I am able to negotiate 10% off so that may be an option.

There are fewer red dots with a 2 MOA dot, but they are all I use. If you go with that size, then you could use the UltraDot HD Micro. It is a good sight, its compact and it doesn't require rings. On the down side, if you decide you want something other than 2 MOA, you are out of luck. I love the UltraDot MatchDot or MatchDot II as it allows you to adjust between 2, 4, 6, or 8 MOA. Great sight, but on the down side, it is heavier and bigger than you may want on that gun.

As far as parallax goes, while red dots aren't parallax free, I haven't noticed any serious problems with it.

I like my TRS-25, and my Bushnell Trophy2-dot/2 reticle sights on my Bullseye guns have worked great for many years. I have 3 or 4 of them. They were under $100 each. I don't change the dots/reticles, I've heard it might change the POA in these inexpensive scopes; I did not bother finding out. I stick with the one I like.

I have an Ultra-dot 30mm on a barrel have shot it extensively but I do not find it as easy to shoot as a reflex sight .
By far my favorite is the Docter.
All though after cataract surgery I am back to irons.

I shoot in a Bullseye pistol league. .22LR. Most use Ultra Dots. I love mine.

Or you could have shooting glasses made that permit you to see both your gun's sights and the target with clarity and solve the actual problem. Call Morgan Sports Optical in Olean, New York - (716) 379-8773 - they made glasses for me via email that do just that.
