Has anybody had any experience with Tul Ammo in their SD9VE? See lots availible in bulk at reasonable prices. Basically using as range ammo. I have had no problems with any ammo to this point (Herters, UMC, WWB ect.) and don't want to start now!....thanks

It's Tula and its only attribute is cost. Black Hills and Hornady have also jumped on the steel-case bandwagon. I'm an old fart and I'm not ready to use steel cased ammo in any gun that I care about. I have scratched too many reloading dies with some unseen piece of grit to use steel cased ammo. If grit and a brass case can scratch a die it's even more likely that grit and a steel case will scratch a chamber. Steel cases are not reloadable either. Steel cases were used by the Germans, Russians and US (there may have been others) during WWII due to brass shortages. I'll spend a few cents more on brass cased ammo and reduce my chances of damaging my guns and end up with reloadable brass.

Best Regards,

Back in the old days when I had ammo to shoot  I used to shoot Tula ammo through my 9VE all the time. The only problems I had with it was that I would have a few fail to fire from a few rounds.

Academy has a one box limit on certain calibers of ammunition with three total right now, so me and a buddy have a deal, when he goes he gets one of what he shoots and gets me one of what I shoot and I do the same for him. Last week he found the 9mm Tula and new I was looking for 9mm so he bought me a box. I never have shot any steel cased ammo so we will see tomorrow. 50 rounds can't do too much harm I don't think.

If you shot a Herters steel case without a problem you should be fine with Tula. Same manufacturer

"I have had no problems with any ammo to this point (Herters, UMC, WWB ect.) and don't want to start now!" ----- has nothing to do with reliability. Some guns dont like some ammo. Doesn't matter what gun or ammo. Eventually you will run into the ammo your gun doesn't like. Once you find it dont buy anymore. It could be the most expansive or the cheapest or just the combo if bullet type and weight.

Almost all of the ranges I go to here in Metro Detroit do NOT allow steel cased ammo. So, you may be SOL depending on your range.

Then he can just set it aside to use another time. I have ranges here but since I live in the desert I can also just take a drive and go shoot what I can't at a range out there.

No offense, but I will not use communist ammo or steel case ammo, or aluminum Blazer either for that matter. For some reason, in the event of malfunction, I still have this nagging feeling that it could be the gun. . . .

That is no fun.

:)

I use tulammo in my FS 40 no problem. (ONLY when I can't get anything else) prefer brass to steel. My buddy has a 40c and it fires, ejects, but FTF every round, a mag tap fixes it.

To further add, I used Federal Guard Dog as my defensive carry round, almost all cases bent behind where the bullet seated in the case. Federal replaced it, did the same thing again in different mags, switched to Hornady critical defense and no problem.

Well, I took those federals to the range to burn up and every one of them ran through the FS perfectly, go figure! I just didn't like the way they looked with the dent in the case.

I have 50rds of Tula, just in case, just in case..

I haven't seen any recent manuals for S&W but Ruger rates all their guns for steel and aluminum. In the '80s and '90s I fired tons of blazer. Never had a problem. In this century I've shot much steel. The only issue I have is if you are one of those that doesn't clean your gun after each use, Tula will teach you to clean more often. I never felt bad leaving blazer shells where they fell. Carters Country mixes it into their concrete. Looks cool.
Lazy range owners won't cull their own brass. Shame on them. They make even more money on every shell you drop. Now they want you to sort it for them too. Vote with your feet and tell them why. Are you listening High Noon in Crosby Texas, No more of my money flows into your lazy pockets.
