I don't really have anything useful to add to the conversation, but I really feel I should add a congratulations on that gun.
For my money such a fine conversion such as this is as good as it gets in pre-war S&Ws. There's that added layer of history with a prior owner caring enough to have such fine work done, and then care for the gun after it was done. Then, there's the wonderful freedom of being able to actually use and shoot the gun without feeling that you are somehow sullying an untouched relic.
To me, the perfect conversion is the best of all worlds.
Especially for someone like you who already owns the finest 1917s that exist (as far as I know at least).
The more I go along with my S&W collecting the more I find I am in love with such guns. I'm intensely curious to find out what sort of history may be attached to this gun, if the SWHF can come up with anything on it.
