Sending you a PM also.

Jim, I think that's no longer true. I contacted David a year or two ago about getting one of his prewar style adjustable sights and he said he doesn't work on Smith & Wessons anymore, just Rugers, and wouldn't sell the sights by themselves. I also found this on his website:

Clements Custom Guns

"1. ALL DA revolver work will be limited to the GP100 10mm conversions & SP101 only. "

"2. All rifle work will be confined to Marlin lever action guns only. All SA revolver work will be confined to Rugers."
....

Tom,

Thanks for the update! I would still ask him however; installing the sight is generic work and basically the same as installing on any other gun. Since he did it in the past he probably still has his milling jig for a Smith.

Might be worth a phone call.

Jim,
But I had rather be butt freezin cold than live back in that gun grabbin, communist state of kalifornia at 77 degrees. Besides, the weather there was boring.
Taj
Boring, are you kidding? When our winter lows are 40 degrees warmer than a lot of other states highs.:p I'd be the first to bash this crazy states politics, but the weather is the only thing it has going for it IMHO.

I don't really have anything useful to add to the conversation, but I really feel I should add a congratulations on that gun.

For my money such a fine conversion such as this is as good as it gets in pre-war S&Ws. There's that added layer of history with a prior owner caring enough to have such fine work done, and then care for the gun after it was done. Then, there's the wonderful freedom of being able to actually use and shoot the gun without feeling that you are somehow sullying an untouched relic.

To me, the perfect conversion is the best of all worlds.

Especially for someone like you who already owns the finest 1917s that exist (as far as I know at least).

The more I go along with my S&W collecting the more I find I am in love with such guns. I'm intensely curious to find out what sort of history may be attached to this gun, if the SWHF can come up with anything on it.

Hi
Well it finally got above 20 Degrees it is 36 today so I went out and shot 12 more shots with out shaking to bad. this gun really likes winchester factory Match 185 semi wad cutters. I am afraid this could lead to a bad habit. I only have about 3 boxes left.
Not to bad of a group for a 96 year old Gun and a 70 Plus year old Shooter.
Enjoy the picture
