After reading a recent thread on turn lines, I took a look at the cylinders on my revolvers. On all but one, my 686, the turn line follows the apex of the locking notch. On the 686, the turn line is off center. Should I be worried about this. The gun shoots fine, by the way.

1) Bent ER?
2) Notch located off center position?
3) Bent Yoke?

And I'd be curious to see photos to see just how much off it actually is.

I'll post pictures when I get a chance. I don't think it's due to end shake. I haven't measured it but it doesn't feel like there is that much.

If it has a full turn line on the cylinder isn't half that from swinging the cylinder closed and locking it in place?

Hard to see in this picture. I don't have a good camera. I also tried to measure the offset with a set of calipers. The best I can tell is approx. 0.020" towards the barrel.

Just looking at your picture and pulling the 642-1 out of my pocket for comparison, it does NOT look like a problem. Mine appears to be off about the same but toward the rear of the cylinder.

Hopefully, you can relax now and just enjoy your fine revolver. :)

Thanks for the replies. I haven't noticed any problems with the function but I do wonder if this related to this being a newer gun.
