I purchased a Turnbull 1911 second hand. The minute I picked it up I knew it would go home with me, the craftsmanship Turnbull puts into their 1911 handguns is so impressive to me.
I had a bit of an issue and returned it to Turnbull. They went above and beyond for me
I guarantee this will be an excuse for me to either send something to them to refinish or purchase another gun from them

Considering what Doug Turnbull charges for his 1911s and restoration work, they'd better "continue to impress".

Their 1911s are beautiful, though, I'll say that for them.

Turnbull Custom Ruger Super Blackhawk

I've known Doug for over 40 years. His father owned one of the largest guns shops in our area "Creekside Gun Shop", where I had purchased numerous guns until they closed up for good a few years ago. I remember when Doug started his restoration business in the back of his father's gun shop in 1990, then moved to where his business is now. Doug has done various projects for me over the years. His work is the finest. I had an idea a couple of years ago to have an old Ruger Super Blackhawk done up fancy having seen several examples of some of the new Ruger Single Actions that had been done by his shop. The revolver is pictured (below a 357/9MM convertible) in it's original case. The turnaround was about 6 weeks, and was worth every penny. The shop case colored the frame and hammer, and fire blued all the screws and small parts. I recently bought a NIB Ruger Super Single Six made in 1968, and am planning to have the same treatment done to that this spring to have a set of the largest and smallest caliber Ruger Single Action 3 screw revolvers. I feel very lucky to live about a 30 minute drive from Doug's shop where I can get some of the best firearm work done to my guns.

I remember seeing the Wilson Combat prices on the internet and laughing. Then I saw one of their Pinnacle guns in person, with the color case hardened frame. Price did not seem all that funny anymore.
