I wonder if the spots will be gone come archery season?

Reminds me of a story. My first hunting trip with my Dad. We're hunting in Alabama on private property w/permission. Bucks only. We're driving down a road and we spot a group of does and fawns. He pulls over, gets out the .30-.30, and nails a spotted fawn. We run up to it, he hands me the rifle, pulls out his knife to cut off the hindquarters and tells me, "Remember, bucks only."

TXSWFAN, I realize you didn't do it but that story is horrible and offensive to me.

It sorta confused me at the time it happened Barb. Even at nine I knew what he did was wrong. I ended up getting a beating for it too. When we got back home to FL, I mentioned it to an older sister who then told my step mom who then told my Dad. He came and got me and beat the snot bubbles outta me for telling. Such fond memories of childhood.

Had a Bambi younger than that with no mother at my front door (literally) a couple evenings ago, looked for the mom, no where to be seen. She probably was hit by a car. :( They are cute!

Taste just like veal !!!!! one time I was hunting in a field just before dark I shot at a nice 6 point buck .When I walked up to were the buck was standing there was a little spotted fawn laying there. I said to myself what the heck . But on looking around I did find the 6 pointer abought 30 feet away with a hole clean through it just missing the heart. I would not waste the fawn and leave it so I tagged it also there wasn't much to it but it did melt in your mouth.

last night the 3 bucks(much bigger now) 5,4,3 points and a doe were hanging out, we where sitting 20ft away with our puppy, they had no worries, they rest in the yard most the day.

2 of this years fawns are now sneaking away and playing over here like dogs, the will walk right up on you. We were again on the lawn and the 3 fawns came FLYING JUMPING by about 2 ft away....we about crapped

I use to hunt.....but now I just love to watch and protect my critters

I live on just shy of an acre in downtown Gig Harbor....people are amazed at the wildlife that hangs out at our place
