Two Inch 00 buckshot shells?

I saw some of them in a Cheaper Than Dirt mailing. They are 2" shells, 6 pellets of 00Buck at a reduced recoil. The ad says they generally won't function a semi-auto but that shouldn't be a problem with a Mossberg 500. I'm thinking about ordering a couple of boxes of them. Has anyone else tried them and what were your thoughts about them.

I have not tried the 2" 00 buck, but I have tried some 2" #8s I got from the polywad folks. I like the low recoil, and especially lower noise factor for squirrel control in our neighborhood. No one gets excited when me or my brother (he uses a .410 with 2.5" shells) work on the nuisance squirrels, but we figure the less noise, the better.

I would love to try some of the 2" buck. I believe there is definitely a place for a reduced recoil buckshot load. I would love to train my wife and daughter with the shotgun, but I am reluctant to do it with even 2 3/4 inch shells.

My thinking exactly except for the daughter. Don't have one of those. Plus I have one heavily used (and rebuilt) right shoulder.

Women can handle 2-3/4 inch shells in a 12 gauge, even little women. Let them watch you shoot the gun, teach them good technique and let them try it. My wife is 5' 2" and shoots 12 gauge and every handgun we have, from .22 LR to .45 ACP.

I have not seen the 2" ones but I have shot some of the 1 1/4" 12ga. Aguila buckshot. It works fine in my Winchester HD shotgun. I will have to look for the 2' ones.

I was going to order a couple of boxes but changed my mind when Cheaper Than Dirt's shipping charge was more than the two boxes of shells. Huge gunshow this weekend at the Expo center about a mile from me. I think I'll check there since there's usually one guy who has all kinds of ammo. He might be more expensive but probably less than CTD's price plus shipping.

Great for a pump shotgun, it means increased mag capacity.
Probably won't cycle in a semi though.

They tested them for law enforcement about 15 years ago because they were concerned about overpenetration with full power buckshot and (mostly) recoil sensitive recruits. A firearms instructor showed them to me, but I never tried them. He said they functioned fine in a Remington 870.

Many years ago, I saw them in a LGS.

At that time I was told that a Short Action 12 ga shotgun was to be made especially for the short 12 ga shells.

I waited for a while and finally asked the company and was told that the shotgun will NOT be made. No reason was given.

I would have bought one, I thought at that time a minimum barrel length
12 ga with that kind of capacity would have made a great home defense gun for the Wife. I still do.

Considering all the different firearms being made, would it be that hard to make on for the mini shells?

In most cases to make them feed right you need to change out the loading spoon.
