Two Piece Barrell

Looking at the video for the new model 66 4" I was surprised to hear that it will have a two piece barrel. I thought that the 2 piece barrel helped to push the models 619 & 620 out of production. In fact I thought it was the main reason they failed. Is this new 66 a model 619 or 620 in disguise?

Yes, I have read some of the older threads on the topic but would like to air it out again.

Is the newest 2pb an aid to accuracy or merely a cost cutting measure?

The M520 & M620 were both built on the L frame.

I know nothing about the new 2 piece barrels. In WWII some 1911A1's had 2 piece barrels, I have several in my used parts bin and have used them in building 45's. They have never been a problem with any gun I built or worked on. My understanding was that S&W was a subcontractor that built them, if that is the case then they have 70 years of experience. I did. Can't find it. Not under "K-frame revolvers". Not under "Classics". Not under "Performance Center". Not under "Law Enforcement".

I thought they had killed the K-frame 357s a few years back. So did they bring it back? If so, where on their site is it at?

Oh, and where, in that fifty-second commercial, did he say "two-piece barrel"? I heard "4 1/4" barrel" at 0:30, but that was the only "barrel-mention" I heard.
