Did some poking around the world's largest online garage sale. Noticed an outfit is selling Tyler T-Grip near-copies (polished aluminum) for really reasonable $$$. Just J frame available that I saw.

Maybe some impetus for the "real" Tyler to actually get to work?

There’s a member of this Forum that sells a TGrip copy made of a resin or plastic. His product is excellent & customer service top notch.

I seem to remember the original Tyler T-Grip adapter at about $2 back in the mid-1970s. Advertised in every issue of Guns & Ammo magazine, which cost me about $3 per year delivered to my house, which cost me $17,700 in 1973 complete with an attached garage for my 1974 Ford 1/2 ton pickup that I purchased for $2495 at year-end close-out sale. Gasoline was still about 29 cents per gallon. McDonalds hamburgers had jumped from 15 cents to 19 cents each. A company called Amana was trying to sell their new Radar Range microwave ovens for about $300, but most of us weren't ready for that just yet. A new Sony Trinitron 19" color television was also about $300, but most of us were still watching black and white (with rabbit ear antennas). I got a big salary boost in 1974, from $657 per month to $759, but the Blue Cross-Blue Shield family insurance plan went up $55 per month at the same time. Montgomery Ward and Sears Roebuck were still printing and delivering their catalogs, and you could order just about anything you wanted; lots of great entertainment leafing through the pages and wishing I could afford all the goodies.

Sorry, I am easily distracted!

The seller has a sense of humor. From the auction site description....

On the J frame, it does not matter whether the grip frame is round butt or square butt. This adapter will work on 5 shot Rossi or Taurus .22, .32, .38, or .357 Revolvers so long as they have standard magna type panels. It will not work on a Rossi Princess, will not work on a Charter revolver; will not work on a Smith & Wesson K Frame 6 Shot; will not work on the turn signal lever of a 1974 Ford Pinto. It will only work on a Smith & Wesson J Frame Revolver or one of its close Rossi or Taurus clones that have magna type grips that do not cover the front strap of the grip frame.

I agree 100%. I bet this is the beginning of the end for Tyler. I bet the machine shop making theses is starting with J frames, getting the kinks worked out, then will expand to other frame sizes.

I wonder what took so long. The original maker has it made. Send me the money, you’ll get it when you get it lol

My career began in 1968 & the only modification to our revolver allowed was the TGrip. I believe it cost less than $5 b/c I got two, one for my service revolver & another for my off duty gun.

When I grew up, the kid that lived next door to me was an entrepreneur of sorts. He cut grass, delivered papers, did odd jobs for the neighbors and always helped out the fathers of his many blonde girlfriends. His first car was a Rambler, but very quickly he traded it in on a split window Corvette. I remember at the time "how could I EVER afford $3500 for a car?".

Ahhhh, the good old days...

I have been a firm supporter of Tyler T-Grip for years and have always received what I paid for, although it is slow to arrive.

Saw this thread and decided to give this group a try and see what the product is like.

It appears, when I look at the photos on the site, that Robertson's Trading Post is who is selling these. Ironic they used to be a distributor of the Tyler model.

Ordered one and will let you know when it arrives how it compares to the original.

He is a very intelligent and humorous in person too. Great guy to deal with and even gives free Coca-colas upon visits to his gun store, I have partaken in a few myself over the years. I guess they were free, he doesn't holler at us when we drink them.

I thought I remembered them being a 'distributor' for Tyler.

I did see that Tyler has finally updated their website. I don't really have a problem waiting, as long as the communication is good.

Given two identical products, most will opt for the one that's actually shipping in a timely manner.
