Greetings,
Your site was recommended to help me identify a revolver.
I have read the sticky about the info needed. I will do my best.
I am trying to ID a revolver for a family member. I am working on getting a picture...
No model number near the yoke.
1. Hand ejector
2. Serial # is 8K81056
I know I should put XXX, but I am more interested in details than anonymity.
3. .357. Nothing on the barre other than "Smith and Wesson"
4. 4 inches
5. Adjustable sights.
What else does someone need to help ID the model?
Thanks for your attention.

You don't mention if it's blued, nickel or stainless. That serial number is from 1975, and if it's a 357 with target sights it should be either a model 19-3 or 66 depending on if it's steel or stainless. In 1975 I would have thought it should have a model number on the yoke. Perhaps someone more learned than I can shed more light. Pictures would help.

As raljr1 said it was made in 1975. If you open the cylinder and look on the "yoke" it's the hing like thing that holds the cylinder to the frame there should be some numbers and below these there should be the abv. Mod and a number. that information will let you know what the model number of your revolver is.

Oh, welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the replies. I hate not having it in my hand, or even a picture. It is blued. The numbers inside the yoke area did not make much sense to me. They are reported as:
73820
and
616.

Those are assembly numbers and mean nothing once the gun leaves the factory. In that same area there should be a number starting with MOD.

Update:
It is a model 19-3. In very good condition and hopefully headed into the family. Thanks again for the replies. I think I'll hang around and learn some more. All the revolver talk made me take my 610 to the USPSA match and get the last two classifiers I needed to get my classification.
