Here's an example of the commercially made holster issued by the U.S. for Military Intelligence personnel. I've owned a black example but this is my first russet one. It's stamped MRT 9-60 ( mildew resistant treatment Sept. 1960 ) which is odd as the Military went to black leather equipment in 1956 or so.
It has apparently seen some use and fits the Chiefs Special better than the Colt Detective Special. It has a thin welt and strong brass snap, a no frills, all business holster. I've included the page from Scott Meadows' book on US Military holsters.
