Last night my brother in law and I went by a local stop and rob, and he went in to cash a check, well immediately following us into the store was 2 suspicious guys, and I went to the back to get a drink and he followed me back and quietly said 'uhh...do you have your gun, because I am NOT cashing a 600$ check to get robbed!' I kinda chuckled and said as always, and stood by him while he cashed them and as the teller is handing him the money one of the strange guys asks me if I would like to buy some marijuana and after politely telling him hell no he admired my tattoos and then we left the store, but my BIL forgot to get some ice so he made me follow him BACK into the store because the two dope dealers were still there, I can understand his insecurity with the situation but I found it nice to feel needed and funny that he felt that way

I don't think I would put myself in that situation. I don't go out much at night and I sure would not cash a large check at night at such an establishment.

I think you ought to carry all the time, but at Night....you just have to...
The corner "stop & rob" convenient store isn't even safe....

Cashing a check at a place like that at night could be construed as asking for it.

When I was younger I had an uncomfortable experience when a running buddy did something stupid assuming I was carrying and would back him up....I didn't know I had signed up for that....After that episode I don't let anyone know I carry.

Three major problems with this, at a minimum. A. Who's cashing a $600.00 check at a stop and rob?; B. What kinda knucklehead re-enters an establishment wherein one (the knucklehead!) feels insecure; C. what kinda person (the OP!) perpetuates the aforegoing?

***!!!!

Be safe.

Tell your "BIL" to get his own gun, get a bank account, and do his banking during regular business hours.
No need to put yourself in a situation where things can go bad.
Be smart, be safe!

I hope your brother in law was smart enough to count it again outside on the hood of the car before leaving....and loud enough for the clerk inside to hear in case he tried to cheat him.

If they were actually dealing drugs, they had more to fear from you than you from them. Drug dealers are not looking to rob people.

See, now, I'd have just shot the dealers point blank in the back of the head, 1 ea...... No more worries!
:D

My wife asks me every time we leave the house.... "Got your cell phone? Got your gun?".

P.S. If your BIL insists on frequenting such places, buy him a gun and take him to get his permit. It'll save you a bundle in legal fees.

sadly enough no it's not a joke, he just moved here from out of state and we work night shifts so we sleep during buisness hours, so he hasn't got a bank acct yet, and he is still trying to get on his feet so no gun yet, soon though, and this was the last place open that day, I wish my back would have just let him sign it over to me though

I don't know about all banks but I know that I can cash my check 24 hours a day via the ATM and the cash is in my account right away.

I worked for over a year straight on midnight shift (11 pm to 7am), yet found time to date my future wife, tend to my bills, shop for groceries, etc. I don't mean to be insulting, but cashing a check at a "Stop and Rob" (there's a reason they're called that!) late at night when all the predators are out is a dumb idea, with or without a gun!
