I recently bought a Hidden Hammer Super Belt Slide Holster for my 642. I like the holster except for the "internal locking device" that fits in the trigger guard. It makes it difficult to take the gun from the holster sometimes. Maybe because it is new. I see no need for it, since it has a thunb break to hold the gun in the holster, but I don't see a way to remove it without ruining the holster. Any ideas or comments?

Look at Ray's Holsters. The Clam Shell holster for a J frame is only 35 bucks. Mine works great.
Keep the uncle Mike's the way it is. Nothing wrong with having 2 holsters,or 3, or 4,......

You really need to buy a better holsters.

Good holsters do not thumb breaks to hold the gun in. They rely on proper molding and shaping to keep the gun in the holster. Thumb breaks are supposed to be only to keep others from taking the gun out of your holster easily, not to keep the gun from slipping out on its own.

I have an Uncle Mike's IWB holster that I'm currently using however I'm not to very happy with it because it does not latch or lock to the belt very securely. I once had my entire holster & gun nearly fall from my waistband while exiting my truck. I carry a left handed holster in the middle of my back because I'm right handed. I personal just don't like the Uncle Mike's.....it was just thrown into the deal when I purchased my .357 mag J frame M&P 340. I have a .40 cal I carry the same way with a Galco "Summer Comfort" holster which I reaaly like. I have tyhe Galco IWB UDC holster on order now for my M&P 340.

The plastic clip used in the UM IWB holster is unsatisfactory. A few manufacturers use a strong metal clip that seems to be more than adequate. The light weight clips that pull away too easily are accidents waiting to happen.

yashua-p is right.

The plastic clip on the UM IWB is worthless.
Their IWB holsters 10 years ago were far superior.
