I have a model 60-10 with Uncle Mikes black rubber finger groove grips. I think the particular grips are referred to as combat gips (they are full length).

I have been looking for more grips of this type for my other J frames and have had no luck finding them. Can someone tell me where I can find them?

Have you tried Ebay?? I picked up a pair two weeks ago and have found they work very well on the j-frame. I don't like the smaller set they make and I never liked the brand (for grips) to much until I tried a friends s&w 640 that came stock with them great grips had to buy a set. You can also try Midway USA.....

Not UMs, but you can do a search on 'Pachmayr grips', for some options.

Found 3 pairs on e bay for my J's. There is a set on there now going for $9.99. They are the shorty models for CC, but my full sized models are no problem to conceal and offer a MUCH better grip. Best grips going for shooting a J frame IMO. With the covered backstrap they give you a natural sight picture and absorb recoil MUCH better than wood.

S&W has them on their website with logo. Mine have no logo but are the best grips I've used for a J frame after forking out hundreds on other expensive name brands.

Item # SKU: 413040000

S&W link. Grips are at the bottom of the page. Try em. You'll love em!

Over the four years I've had my 642 I've tried:

The boots it came with-too short, thumb got chewed up by the cylinder latch.

Short wood -hurt really bad, but were real pretty.

Hogue Mono-grip-comfy three finger hold but too big for carry.
I do have them on a 442 house gun.

Crimson Trace 405-very comfy, but I just do not like a two finger hold.

Uncle Mike's Combat-Perfection, comfortable, just a little longer in length, nice three finger hold.

i too have found the uncle mike's combat to be a superior grip.

does anyone have enough experience with the crimson trace lg-305 to compare it with the uncle mike's combat?

I agree, the combat grips are most comfortable J grips I have found.

Thanks for the help guys...looks like the S&W's will work.

So the UM Combats are 3 finger and shorter than the Monogrip? By how much? Like many, I can't use the orig. 2 finger UM's and have tried some Pachmyers and the Mono. The Monogrip is perfect for shooting, but a bit long for pocket carry. 642, by the way.

(S&W link above not working, that's why I ask.)

FYI, Uncle Mikes/Butler Creek is no longer making their grips due to a licensing issue with Craig Spegel. eBay or forum classifieds are your best options to find a set.

There out there & Drying up..
I was lucky enough to pick up a "New" set @ KY Imports last time in for $12.. I have two that I put on my J frames when I'm gonna shoot them for long periods of time..
They are the best J Frame grips made & of Craig Spegels design..

67GTO-I have Hogue Mono's on my 442 and Combats on my 642.
I compared lengths with a ruler and found the Hogues are 1/4" longer and sweep back a little bit which causes them to stick out more.

Whitecloud-I owned a CT-642 for a couple of years, this is the model that already has 305 laser grips installed. They felt very comfortable when just handling the gun, but when shooting I found them extremely painful. They just seemed to smack back into my hand, I got so I hated shooting the piece and sold it.
The LG-405 grips were much better at recoil absorption.

Oh, by the way-I bought my Combats at Gander Mountain for $12.00. See if you have a GM store in your area, maybe they still carry them or could order them for you.

My 640-1 came w/UMCs. I too have tried several other brands but always go back to the UMCs, especially @ the range! (Have a pr. on my 696. I want some for my K-snubs, too!)

I ordered the J Synthetic Full Size Grips from Smith and Wessons on line store. They seem to be an exact copy of the Uncle Mikes Combat Grips minus the checkering. I think I like the textured S&W grip better...plus they have the S&W logo.

Thanks for the heads up Sportsterguy. I just ordered two more sets so I can outfit all my J frames.

I tried some of these in the hopes that they would be an easily found replacement for the UM three finger grips (just about all I use on my "working" J frames). No joy. The new S&W's are much smaller than the UM grips and I really don't like the hex screw.
