Thanks for all the feedback. I for sure would buy this gun to shoot, not store away. Having said that though I'm struggling with whether to buy it or just buy a brand new gun and pay even less. The other thing I'm trying to figure out is if I want a 357 or a 44 mag. I do have a beautiful 1973 model 66 no dash 357 mag with a 4" barrel.
But, it would be nice to have a new model 686p 4" stainless, Ruger GP100, or Ruger Redhawk 44 mag. I know, buy all three but I can only afford one of those three. I reload so ammo expense isn't a factor. I live in north central oregon so a 357 is plenty of power but 44 mags are prettysweet too. Honestly this is going to be a range gun more than anything but also an occasional woods gun so this is definately just personal preference to make the decision. I know the GP100 is a great gun and I own lots of Rugers but everyone says the 686p is worth the extra $100 or so for the fit and finish. I do like the classic looks of the Smith too.
