I bought these from a fellow liquidating old inventory from his sporting goods store. The cut for the rear of the grip-frame looked like a Hogue configuration, as does the stirrup and attaching hardware. I have a contact at Hogue and he remembers doing this conversion to only this one set of S&W stocks.
It must have started out as a rough-finished blank, since there were no round-butt target stocks made (at least that seemed to be the consensus in an earlier thread I posted), which allowed for the round-butt cut at the rear of the stocks.
I intend to use them on my 29-8 150th Anniversary gun. I always thought that gun got short-changed in the stock department with the plain, no-medallion Herrett stocks it came with. It really deserved a set of stocks like these. They are just a smidge too big for the presentation case, but that can be remedied with a Dremel (Hold my beer!).
Adios,
