Dear friends
I found this engraved 29-2 serial number N473xxx advertised by an armory, have you ever seen this type of engraving, do you think it's factory? (ignore the grips)
I have not seen anything like this in the Smith & Wesson engraving book.
I asked for better photos, I wait for them to send them to me, then I post them on the forum.

Yes, the picture is not good, but that is not Factory engraving

One of the telltales is that Factory engraved revolver usually have the small S&W logo on the left side. This leaves the large side plate area for artistic work.

The revolver picture that you posted shows the large S&W logo on the side plate

Hope you get some better pictures as you've requested, with more light and sharp focus. Looks interesting, would like to see more of the engraving detail.

Most commonly I don't like any engraving. they look hammered to me.

But this one I like very much. Thanks for showing. The photo is good enough for me.

Original photo with a little PhotoShop enhancing.

Even though that is not a Factory engraved revolver, it looks nice.

As long as you like the style and the price sounds fair to you, it does not matter if it is Factory or not. I have bought non-Factory engraved guns in the past with no regrets

Looks like a full effort on the cylinder. On the rest of the gun....not so much.
The grips are fairly recent laminates.
