I did a search and didn't see this anywhere. If anyone knows of a thread, please let me know.

But my question is: Is there a way to unpin a 10 rd mag and make it a 25 rd mag? They look the same other than the color of the guide. It is legal to have a 25 rd in my state, but I also have a 10 rd. I honestly don't like the 10 rd and would like to make it a 25 rd if possible. I tried to pull the pin out with a hooked wire, but that didn't work.

Has anyone done this? Suggestions? Thanks.

when you un-pin it you only get 23 rounds you can cut the bottem tap down at a angle to get the 25 rounds. to un-pin it you have to drill through the side of the mag where the pin is, its just a roll pin.

23 is still better than 10...I can live with that. Thanks.

I gotta wait till my mag gets back from Smith.....it is on it's way to the gun doctor.

I would post pics where to drill but not sure if the S&W forum would like that?

Mods.....can we get a ruling on that?

What do you mean 44mag.com will send a 25rd? Thanks.

As long as whatever you are doing is legal in your state or otherwise where you reside, that's fine. It would be like posting a pic of a collapsible stock or muzzle device in TN -- No problemo. I have posted many. However, I would not specifically suggest or otherwise recommend anything that is not legal for others where they reside.

I agree.
This topic can be discussed if kept totally within applicable law.

The "rebuild kit" tactic is an obvious attempt to circumvent some states' laws.
A test case may or may not eventually be pursued by some zealous DA or DOJ official.
IF that ever happens, I won't be subpoenaed because we simply won't be discussing it, advocating it, or linking to it.
Please take note of the preceding sentence.;)

Thanks for the info, Sub95! What did you fill the holes with?

25 rd are perfectly legal in my state you can buy them (if you can find them in stock) at any gun shop. But I also had a 10 rd, so I figured....if I can have high cap....why not make it high cap? But this thread is for information purposes only. ;) :D

i justed used ultra black rtv, just put alittle bit in it and come back with a cover coat. the pin hole was filled but i took it out so you could see it.
