All you .500 shooters out there, I just got this email (I am not making this up):

"I spoke with you on Wed. re: your S&W 500. I sent the check and paperwork today. I've read your ballistic info and have a question. I use Winchester 296 when I load my magnums. I love the fire and flash from that powder. Can you recommend any powder with more flash than that?"

Can anyone help this guy?

I apologize to Mr. Ross. Sometimes, I just can't help myself.

Seriously, I'd think something along the lines of 4198 or 4227 might do the trick. Or maybe even Reloder-7.

He's barking up the wrong gun. He ought to try whatever powder makes a lot of flash and buy the 2" barreled survival .500. Don

Well I thought it was sown right funny!! I know he is into the 500 magnums, but for the life of me; I don't understand why anyone would want that kind of punishment. To watch videos of that gun, it can't be fun and must hurt like the dickens. I don't think my old hands and wrist would take it.

I don't think so. Not enough pressure. I have some old uncoated BLC-2 that makes a 6 foot fireball in a .458 but next to nothing in the .500.
