Summary - Wanted to charge me $10 for using my own frame.

Detailed Explanation:
I recently had cataract surgery and needed new prescription lenses.

Walked into Walmart Optical, presented prescription, and frames.
Opening quote for lenses was $199. TOO HIGH!

After explaining that I wanted clear lens, lined bifocal, and NO COATING price was finally down to $99.

And now for the Rest of the Story ...

"There is a $10 charge for using your frames."

"But, I bought those frames here." (got Bravo Sierra)
"Then just refund the frames and resell them to me."
(more Bravo Sierra - "no longer a stock item" - (more Bravo Sierra)

Picked up my prescription and said
"We are done. You have your policy and I have mine. The money is still in my pocket."
"Be sure to tell you manager how this $10 policy lost a sale."

Actual it lost three sales - Clear / Sun glass / Yellow Shooting

Long ago at the same Walmart Optical I found a frame I really liked so I bought several for later.
That way I could have the same frame with different lenses.
I like to have multiple glasses - Clear lenses / Sun glass lenses / Dark Yellow Shooting lenses.
All glasses would have same frame and fit the same.

I intend to try and talk to Manager next week.

I may end up paying more elsewhere,
but I will not tolerate their $10 EXTORTION!

You're wasting your time talking to a manager at Walmart - They don't/won't care. A $99 loss is meaningless to them compared to the losses from theft.

If you buy frames AND lenses, the installation is included.

If they have to dismount the old lenses and then install new ones, it's an extra labor charge.

I don't see the problem. Like most tire dealers sell new tires as a package deal. If you bring in your own tires they certainly will charge you to mount them.

Understand, the tire situation!

In this case they originally sold me the frames.

Did they at least explain the reason behind the charge, or did they just give you the "company policy, nothing I can do" explanation? I would have stayed if given a reasonable explanation. It is becoming more common for businesses to charge customers for what should be their own responsibility. I saw on the news just last night that in the Denver area some Target stores are charging customers a percentage to take care of cleaning and paving of their lots. I think they call it a PIF fee.

First of all, I don't buy important things like glasses at Wallyworld. In fact I gave up their pharmacy because half the time my meds were not in stock and I had to wait, but that's another story.

I have been using the same Optician for 35 years. Small company, 2 locations, and the CEO and CFO are parishioners at my church. I get new lenses yearly and new frames about every 3 years. They never charged me a dime for lens replacements.

HOWEVER, the cost of the lenses keep going up. Why? The minimum wage keeps going up. His employee salary cost are higher. The owner of the store has to pay for the gas and electric bills, PLUS, he goes to the grocery store too!

I personally have a better reason to avoid Wally. Half the time the ammo counter is closed because the sporting goods guy didn't show up for work...

The local wally world has a great guy as manager, he helps people out just about any way he can. Now the wally world in Fleming Island has a real PITA manager to deal with. Bought sunglasses from there and after about 2 months the lenses were scratched up and they were Suppose to be non scratchable. This PITA said you have to have your receipt. Who keeps a receipt?
