Had a pleasant conversation with Donna yesterday afternoon.
She was in very good spirits and sounded strong.
She has actually reached a point where her needs for extra oxygen have reached 'zero'. Very good to hear that she doesn't rely on extra.
She did indicate that she feels fine, but, her legs fatigue quickly and she still needs to gain strength and stamina in her walking. She is mobile and doing well with that.
Lee had asked her to contact me.
His ability to carry on a conversation has been hampered greatly by the sore throat issue that he developed after getting into rehab. He continues to have coughing fits and this exacerbates the movement of chest congestion. A lot of discomfort and restless sleep.
His PT regimen involves seeing how far he can walk each day. The progress is there, but, slow. He is only able to walk 15-20 steps and return. Leg strength and stamina are what it is all about and they are diligently working with him on that.
Of course his first 'shower' was a finally realized blessing. As we all know exactly what a good thing that can be.
Donna and her son visit him and bring him things.
Donna will have her son bring Lee's clothes home to be laundered.
Apparently the hospital doesn't have in-house personal laundry. Ha. Who knew? I didn't and she didn't either. Rightfully so, I guess it's not on them. Of course it's great to wear your own clothes especially when the hospital gowns leave your heinie flapping in the breeze.
