I finally got around to upgrading my M&P 10.
I installed Magpul Dark Earth PRS stock and forend.
Ergo Tactical Delux grip.
Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 BDC scope.
Harris Bipod, I'm still saving for an Atlas BT10.
Now I have to get to the 100 yard range and have some fun.

Nice carbine. Mine shoots close to a MOA, how does this one shoot? That is the first picture of an M&P 10 with a PRS stock I have seen. Is the PRS worth the extra bucks say over the STR? I have a FDE STR on mine. Are those MBUS? If so, let us know if the front MBUS melts. I have heard Magpul does not recommend their polymer BUIS for a gas block. I have also heard they will not melt on the M&P 10 given a normal rate of fire. I don't know anyone who would dump mag after mag in an attempt to get the front sight to melt.

How to...

Can you describe the steps and parts you used to install the stock? I would appreciate it greatly!

Can you describe the steps and parts you used to install the stock? I would appreciate it greatly!
Parts:
1) S&W buffer tube spacer part # 432270000. you order this from S&W, you will need the part number when you order.
You will use your stock buffer and spring.

2) DPMS Receiver Extension Buffer Tube AR-15 A1/A2 Stock from Midway. Be sure you have a good AR-15 stock wrench as the stock carbine buffer tube is slightly staked.

3) Magpul PRS AR-10 stock. Make sure it is for the AR-10, not the AR-15 model. Note than it helps to loosen the sling mount allen screws on the stock before you try to slide it on the new buffer tube.

That's it. Took about 15 minutes.
There are a few good videos you can watch, google is your friend there.

Love it - and mine will look exactly like yours in just a few short weeks, except I have the heavy barrel minus the flash hider. I have the Magpul moe hand guard, the prs, and fixing to buy the grip - all in flat dark :)

Oh and I have the Nikon 1 in p risers, and the bushnell 6-18x50 scope :)

KentB, great setup. I hope you enjoy range day. If interested, check out the taclite buttpad adapter from Brownells. Although it adds a little length and weight to your rifle, it bolts right on to the PRS stock and allows you to use either the Pachmayr field pad or decelerator pad. Both buttpads are very comfortable and minimize shock to the shoulder joint ... which is great for active shooters with arthritis like me.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
After 30 rds I can feel the 308's. ;)

Nice! I think the M&P 10 is one of the best kept secrets out there. Very affordable and well made.

Any concerns about heat with mounting a polymer sight on the gas block? I opted for Troy sights on my M&P 10 because I was afraid the heat might be too much up there for a plastic part.

My a2 buffer just arrived my prs for ar10 is a few days out.. now tomoorow call s&w to to get part... the wait is going to kill me. But it does give me a chance to stock up on ammo.. :D
