I saw a US American on the net that was represented as a rare 6" barrel. The barrel looks cut to me. Were any US models supplied with 6" or 7" barrels? My standard catalogue does not mention barrel lengths on them.

Military specs called for 8 in. barrels only. Several things could be going on here (1) the gun is a cut barrel and the seller is ignorant, or a liar, (2) It's a commercial model and could have been shipped with a 6 in. barrel, as American models were made with 6 in. barrels, and fake US stamps have been applied. If the barrel looks cut it probably is. Ask the seller to show you his factory letter for the gun! Ed.

Ed.

Would the factory adjust the position of the barrel stamp on a factory Model 3 six inch barrel to fit like the stamp on the 6 inch 2nd Model Russian below. It's shown with a late 1st Model American with an 8 inch barrel for comparison.

Thanks to both for your replies.
I was pretty sure that they were all 8". The one I saw on GB has a non original sight blade that is not pinned. The seller did not seem to appreciate my observation and I wanted to be more sure before replying. I don't think I will bother
Thanks again
Mike
