My Uncle passed three weeks ago.
My older brother told me our Uncle was
a Vet in WWII with a US Tank Destroyer Unit.

I did some research looking for the Unit Patch
my brother descibed that our Uncle gave him.

I located it on this site.

Great site with US WWII Military Patches & Insignias.

His patch was located in the 'Plate V (Army Air Force and Elite Units)'.

It shows a Panther devouring a Tank.

I have a WWII patch and insignia book put out by (of all people) the National Geographic Society. It was published in late 1944, (right after the rank of Five Star was added). It shows every medal, ribbon, collar device and rank insignia used up until that time. The patch for your Uncle was equal to a Corps or Division patch and worn on the outside garment below the left shoulder. The patch was approved September 22, 1942.

BTW, that's a GREAT website!

My dad was in the 610th Tank Destroyer Battalion in WWII. He collected patches from the War that I kept in a paper lunch sack when I was a kid.
