The items pictured below are all that remain of the uniform I wore during my military service...I have no family members left who would want these, or even recognize what they are, so they will be mailed to the winner of this karma...This karma is open to all who served in the US Air Force, or to those who have a family member who served...I would like to see entrants tell which unit they represent and the years served as I have done below...If that information is not available for a family member, just the acronym USAF will do...I'll choose a winner in a couple of weeks...Please don't post unless you're an entrant...Thanks to all who served...

I spent the majority of my adult life working for USAF. Went to pilot training in 1973, did three years as an instructor in the T-37B then off to Germany as a Forward Air Controller in the OV-10A. Came back to the states to qualify in the C-130 and did five years as a pilot in the WC-130E/H flying weather recon and special missions. I was a staff officer, safety officer and manager before separating from active duty in 1989. Went straight to the Air Force Reserves as an instructor pilot in the C-130H. Spent almost 18 years in the Reserves flying C-130E/H and finally retiring from the military in 2007. I went right back to the base where I was initially trained and took a civilian position as a flight simulator instructor in the T-1A aircraft. Finally retired in 2018 after 44 years serving in a variety of aviation and operations positions. It was a long hard road, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Guess I'm always going to have a little bit of Air Force blue until my time is done.

1981 - 2003. First duty assignment was George AFB as an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist. Worked on F-4s. Three years later I went back to Lackland AFB as a Military Training Instructor, MTI. Went to Myrtle Beach AFB and original job after that, but moved quickly into a training position and eventually NCOIC of Base Honor Guard. I then went to another special duty job and spent 12 years in different aspects of Recruiting, which I loved. In those 12 years I was in Dothan, AL, Knoxville, TN, Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex, and finally Wichita, KS. I'm now starting my 21st year, still in a blue uniform, as an Air Force Junior ROTC Instructor in Rossville, GA. I also started, and coach, our AFJROTC and school Rifle Teams. This will be my last year. Life is good.

..Thanks to all who served...

49th Tactical Fighter Wing 1966-1969...

And Thanks to you for your service. What did you do in the 49th?

I'm not in on the karma, I have a box full of USAF patches I collected while serving, plus the ones I had on my own uniform.

Flight Nurse, 31st AES, 437th Airlift Wing, 1987-1995

Served from 59-63. Couple years RAF Sculthorpe (England), 47th
Field Maint Sq, 47th Bomb Wing. Then the 366th TAC Fighter Wing, Chaumont France. Same rank as in your picture, A1c.

I do still have a set of chevrons, and a Sq Patch, so don't put me in, send to a younger one that can use it better.

I joined the USAF on April 24th 1963 1st PCS was Loring AFB Me. 811th Medical Sq. 811th Medical Gp. 42nd Bomb wing (H) SAC 8th Air Force. Where I met my future wife who was a RN 2nd. Lt. When the head nurse found out that we were dating she pulled some strings and got me shipped the Clark AB PI 19th Casualty Staging Unit TAC 13th Air Force. I spent 21 Mos. there and came back to Travis AFB where I was discharged on April 19 1967 as Sgt. We got married Aug.2nd 1967 and will have our 56th wedding anniversary next week. I also have a son who spent 12 years in USAF reserve at Bergstrom AFB as crew chief on F4s and then F16s and got out as a SSgt when the base closed in 1989.

I dodged draft number 007 in 1971 to join the Air Force in March '72.

I always figured having a job and playing in the high school band resulted in me getting a top secret clearance and being stationed at National Security Agency.

After 'nam I retrained into air traffic control. For the next 25 years I served in Vegas (Nellis AFB -- three tours), Korea (Kunsan AB -- two tours), Germany (Sembach & Ramstien -- two tours), New Mexico (White Sands Missile Range & Holloman AFB -- two tours), and Phoenix (Luke AFB -- one tour).

I wouldn't change a day of my service. It was my honor to serve.

Don't put me in but,
1982-1987 USAF-4.5 years 480th TFW in Germany as a Pneudraulics Technician (F-4E's and G's), 1 year Dover AFB working on c-5's.
1990-1992 Army Germany again. Radio repairman.
Silly people still ask me which service I liked better-I tell them the room service was MUCH better in the USAF!

I've called a halt to this one and a winner has been selected...My usual attractive assistant is not available for the drawing this morning, and her substitute, a cranky old man, was pressed into service for the job...His arthritic hands shakily pulled golf ball #12 from the Folgers can making Bubba2014 the winner!...

If he will kindly PM me a name and address to send this package, it will be entrusted to the next passing USPS courier......Ben
