Found this at an auction (actually my sister did). Somewhere someone would really like to have this.

What I know;
US Army Training Center, Infantry
Fort Jackson, South Carolina
Company A
Second Battalion
First Brigade

Commenced training on 13 April 1964
Completed training 5 June 1964

Most of these fellows would have went to the 'Nam. If any of you all know of any one that was in this training company or are family to one of these men, pm me and I will send this to you. I'm going to try other places too.

That's very thoughtful of you.

I trained there but it was many years later.

I hope you find it the right home.

I should have added if any of you go to your local VFW or similar groups, ask and let me know. There are pictures of each of the men in the company along with their platoon sgt.s and training officers.

I'll happily answer any inquiry about them.

I still have my 1965 copy from Ft. Leonard Wood.

Does the army still print these?

I dont know, Ron. My Godson went through Leonard Wood 3 years ago and he's never said anything about having one.

Got Mine

Still have mine from E-9-2, Ft. Bragg, NC where all the Drill Sgts were from the 82nd and we had a Zero Week, making Basic a 9 week ordeal.

RonJ, good to see you boys from Ft Lost In The Woods can find your way to this forum.

The kids going through basic today probably post everything on Facebook.

Looks like I beat you to the forum by about 5 years. :D

How ironic. My wife was cleaning out the attic today and handed me mine from April 1965. What a hoot looking through it. My daughter graduated from Jackson November 2010. We went down for the ceremony. It has changed a lot since my time there but it's still the pits. As for them posting on Facebook, forget about it. Letters only till about the seventh or eighth week. Then maybe a ten minute phone call. Hope whoever owned that book gets it back.:)

I don't think the owner is in the running. This came from an estate sale so it was discarded by the family. No home locales are listed for the men, so I have no way of I'd ing the original owner. It has no writing in it of any kind.

Does anyone know if these books were S.O.P. in the Army? I am unaware of anything like this, but I would be interested in finding out if my basic training company had one made. Ft. Bragg-Jan-Feb-Mar 1969-E-8-2- Thanks, Flapjack.

they still gave them out in july 1983 ,at FT Lost in the Woods ,LOLstill got mine ,our senior drill sargeants picture ,is the only time i ever seen him smile, Bravo-3-3

They had them in "my" day-Fort Dix, Summer, 1967, but my company didn't get one, we didn't even have a platoon picture taken, alas.

I have two books of my Fathers flight training during WW II, primary and advanced. They are set up much like a high school year book. They definitely put a smile on your face, and I'm very happy to have them. I hope you find someone who was in that BCT, or maybe AIT company.

I still have my book from Fort Gordon, Georgia both basic and MP school, 8 weeks each. First time south for me, didn't know what hot was until the summer of 64. Glad I went, glad I never have to again.
