It occurred to me the other day a chopstick makes a good tool for lowering the sear disconnect lever before takedown.

I had been removing and using the frame tool, but it was kind of a pain to get in and out.

A chopstick works well, doesn't mar, and is easy to come by cheaply. Plus, since they come in pairs, I keep one in my range bag and one in my home cleaning kit.

(Besides, if I had to use them for real to eat, I'd probably starve lol.)

I usually keep a pair or 2 in the truck, house, shop, go bag and never used them for take down. Excellent idea that I was blind to. Thank You, Be Safe,

I pull the trigger on my shield, much easier and I'm used to Glocks

None of you guys just pull the trigger?
No, I don't/wouldn't. By using the sear disconnect it removes the possibility of a negligent discharge. I have been in the vicinity of two negligent discharges during take down. Both were Glocks and both operators thought they had unloaded the gun. If you use the sear disconnect, this is impossible.

I too use a bamboo shish kabob skewer. Cheap and easy to use. I also use one to help clean hard to reach places.

I avoid pulling triggers unless required. I'll deal with the yellow lever.

I don't use a chopstick, but the mini screwdrivers I've picked up over the years at trade shows work fine.

If a person needs a tool to avoid a negligent discharge, they should move to airsoft or nerf guns.

I dealt with the yellow level too. Took it out. Only takes a couple minutes and no more mag in or out to fire or do anything special to break down. Now its like a normal pistol

I just use my little finger's nail to engage the disconnect.
