Used 5943

So, I'm seeing S&W 5943 police trade-ins at Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore for $500. This would be the full sized, double stack 9mm, DAO and alloy frame? Seems a bit steep but maybe not? And since I'm headed to church shortly, a little lust might not be so bad.

The 5943 is a DAO, stainless slide, alloy frame 9mm. I think they are good guns. The one in the picture does not look bad but it is a "representative" picture, so what you get may or may not be similar. The written description of the guns is that they are in "fair" shape, which is less nice than pictured.

To me, the one picture should be priced at about $350.00 to maybe $400, and ones truly rated fair should be about $300.00 I would not pay $500 for the gun pictured. Perhaps if they would cherry pick one for you or send pics of a particular gun they would ship, or if their return policy is not onerous, it would not be so bad. Price does include shipping, so there is that.

I can't imagine $500 for a 5943 unless it was a commercial/retail gun and in minty condition in it's original box with end label.

This isn't a popular model, it never was. For a formerly issued duty gun? I'm not sure how they came up with that price.

Used DAO versions of the 59xx usually go for $350 to $400. I think $500 for an LEO trade in is way over priced.
