I'm cleaning up and doing an action job on a buddy's 642-1 and found it's missing the hammer block, along with the thumb latch and screw that were obvious. He just bought it as a police surplus gun and brought it to me. I guess it could have been cannibalized by the previous department. I'm not finding Brownell's or Numrich to list a hammer block for the 642-1, but they have lots of others for J-frames. Does anyone know which part number will be correct? Thanks!

I was looking at this one since Brownell's is the fastest and most reliable shipper.

Because it is a Centennial style revolver with no exposed trigger spur, there is not a need for a hammer block!

I never knew that about the concealed hammer models. It's been so long since I have been inside my 296, I don't remember what it looks like for comparison to all of my other exposed hammer S&Ws.
