A LGS here in Conroe, Tx has a S&W 686, 6 shot stainless, 4" barrel for $599. I called the shop and the guy told me it was in ~80% condition. This price seems high to me. What does the group think?

The gun I really want is the 686+, 4" stainless. I can find that online for under $700.

I'm interested to see what y'all have to say.

Thanks in advance,

I agree. Three years ago, I paid $450 for this 686-4 in 99+% condition.

Dont get anxious and buy a piece of junk, 686's are very common just take your time and you should be able to buy a nice gun for that money.

Depending up on the -dash it's high for a 99% used 686, let alone 80%.

I have a suspicion that the condition assessment is quite conservative and 80% may not be realistic. Of course, that's purely a guess.

Yeah, I think I'll pass. I want a 686+, 4" so why settle for less. The way the salesman described it didn't seem all that great.

Thanks for your replies,
