Usernames?

Well guys, being fairly new here I'll throw my hat into this conversation.
KnR Machine Works is the name of my small garage based machine shop. The "K" is for my late wife Kate, the "R" is me, Rodney. We started this shop in 2007 and have been doing it ever since. Nothing I can make a living on but keeps me busy.

Wanted to use my first name, Colin, but it was taken. Coin hasn't posted since something like 2004. Should have just added my last name but I chose 'Cyrano' since I admire the character from the Rostand play and I have a big nose. I'm no swordsman, though.

I wanted something as anonymous as possible. No offense meant to the fine hordes of Peter Peterson's out there...

When I was a kid, I would pretend I was a cop, just like my grandfather. I had the whole get-up on. Real badge, the works. I was pretty qualified, as in those days, I did quite a few what nowadays are called "ride-alongs" with my Pap.
When I would arrest or detain my father, which was a nightly occurrence, and ask him for his name, he would always reply "Pete Moss". This would earn him a nightstick, or at the minimum, a blackjacking. I may have drawn my duty Mattel Python once or twice, but these were the days before camera phones...
When my boys were older, in the same scenario, my answer was always- Pete Peterson. I wanted to be original.

Cool story. And I used to work with a guy named Pete Peterson.:D

When I first joined the forum, my pride and joy was a 1991 Harley FXRSC. Still have a fondness for the FXR line.

I have considered changing it because with a name like Many, and a handle like lowriderfxr, and LA for location, more than one member has assumed that I am of Hispanic heritage, work on lowrider cars ( lowrider fixer ), and live in Los Angeles. Truth is I am of Cajun heritage, fond of Harley Lowriders, and live in Louisiana. And I ride a FLHX Street glide these days.

Like others have stated, I use that user name everywhere, so it's too late to change now.

I had a few "incidents" early in my work career and seemed to be an overall sh*t magnet. The end of shift locker room banter evolved and I acquired the nickname Inspector Callahan.

This was before the internet. When I signed up with AOL on a dial up phone line with my first email address, I made one with "inspcalahan" as my user name. It stuck. It's the same for all the various forums and sites I'm on as well, so I might as well keep on with it if it works.

Well, I was always a fan of the Model 40 and, later, Model 42, but in my ignorance, I thought that Model40Fan would not exactly distinguish me from other folks on this forum, and that the handle might already be taken, anyway. So I took the name that I took. If I had it to do over, I would probably go for ImprovedModel 56Fan, or maybe SBModel37Fan.
