Using ankle carry

Right front pants pocket in a pocket holster.

A fellow officer carried a M60 in an ankle holster. One night he was in front of me in a foot pursuit when I see something shinny go flying through the air and land in a planter. As I passed by I saw his M60 in the soft dirt, scooped it up and continued the chase.

Later at the PD I asked him if he was missing anything. When he said no I held up his M60. The look of stunned disbelief on his face was priceless. After I told him what had happened he went shopping for a better way to secure the bug.

I'm a two gun guy. I consider both weapons co-equal; neither is a backup.

I carry one on my ankle, and this is the weapon I would go to if seated. Usually this is a Glock 27.

I carry one inside the waistband in or on the belt using a Simply Rugged holster, or in the pocket in Safariland pocket holster. This would be a S & W 340PD. This weapon is easily accessed while standing. The method of carry is dictated by the weather.

I also have an ankle wallet that holds one extra magazine and one speed loader (it was meant to carry a magazine and a pair of handcuffs).

Not a problem here in California..we aren't allowed to chase suspects anymore...the ACLU said it caused undue stress on a person who already was overly stressed from the planning and execution of the crime.
