My spring kit should be in tomorrow, with my JM grips. I have read and watched his video were he talks about modifying the rebound screw. I am sometimes hesitant on that, so I went and read where some guys say they have no problem with there stock unmodified screw, some say they have trouble with unmodified screws. Can you guys give me some insight on this kit so I know whats going on. I got my little file ready for tomorrow but I hope I dont have to use it.

Thanks in advance guys!

JM Spring kit

I ordered the same kit. Please PM me with how it goes. I also thought I'd order some strain screws just in case I file the original.

I will, I am gonna try it without messing with the strain screw and see how it goes. Seems a lot of the problems come from when there used on K frames, I don't know, but I will keep you informed. I am EXCITED!

EDIT: I rewatched his video and he is saying if you want it set to 7.5 lbs, which to me seems a tad light, so I may try it without modification of the strain screw and see how it goes, I have a feeling it will be just peachy without strain screw modifications.

I have his spring kit on two guns. An L frame and an N frame. I followed the method in his video and it worked very well. A trigger pull gauge helps. I didn't have one for the 1st gun so I just went to the range and adjusted the strain screw to get the lightest pull that was reliable.

A grade 8, 8-32 screw is excellent for trying different lengths without damaging the stock screw. I put the original screw and spring away so I can return to stock anytime I want.
Unless you have the action slick, the gun will get cranky with the lightest spring...one of our shooters sold a 610 because he made it unreliable, but the shooter who bought it went up a bit in spring tension and got 100% reliability.

Well I got my kit today in the mail, ran to the house and got to work. After doing my usual trigger job stuff I installed the springs and put the strain screw in all the way threw my JM grips on and took it for a shoot 12 rounds not a missfire. So I am happy. Granted the pull is probably a tad bit more then 7.5 but not much, its lightning quick feeling.

JM Spring kit

Received an out of stock when I ordered my kit. Product on BO. Guess I'll have to wait. Ordered Wolfe springs for my 617. Hopefully they will arrive soon.

I replaced the main spring and rebound spring but left the screw as is. I moved it in and out while dry firing, and didn't really see the need to file it, but that's personal preference. IMHO, the rebound spring makes the biggest difference of the three.

canvsbk: Man you are 100% right on that...they can be a nightmare!
