USMA West Point cadets OD on spring break

Anyone doing Fentanyl has been to that rodeo before. You don't start at the end. (Hard drugs)

"I was at JSOC a while back. The staff there had just received their sensitivity training. Their eyes rolled when I asked them about it.

A colleague of mine was medically retired from the USMC. He was a HUMINT officer in Afghanistan. He said the guys he served with are leaving in droves because of the mass wokeness being forced on them."

This is a serious problem- it will come back bigtime to hurt us. It is hurting us now.

I talk to young new to the service GI's, almost everyday. Telling them America is bad and America is racist- crushes their morale. Just what the military does NOT need

That stuff would not fly with old school GI's. Your telling me America is bad?-- what?!Not no! but hades no!... Get outta here!

The money wasted on such baloney would be much better spent on ammo for range time and increasing moral by teaching them pride of service and the true history of the Republic.

I have a very good friend who is a retired USAF LTC and is currently a civilian USAF attorney. He tells me that the "woke indoctrination" training even those guys are forced to go through is ridiculous.

You've reminded me of the thread I created about my friend John, who grew up in poverty in New York City, became a rocket scientist, and retired as one of the Defense Department's top engineers.

From http://smith-wessonforum.com/140823258-post1.html

If you want to see John get really, seriously, ticked off...tell him how "unfair" this country is, or how some people have "privilege" that others don't. He will bite your head off. He loves this country passionately, as did his parents, and points out that only in America could a Latvian-German kid, living in a Puerto Rican slum, become a rocket scientist. He is, he is proud to say, the living embodiment of the American Dream.

Fentanyl is so potent that there have been a number of drug busts where the amount of the stuff seized was enough to kill everyone in the US. I have no clue where this idea of mixing it with cocaine came from. Get the mix wrong and you wipe out your customer base.
I never could figure out mixing it with cocaine either-kinda like drinking vodka and red bull.
Fentanyl hit the neighborhood last night. Neighbor kid found his dad slumped over on the toilet with a tourniquet on his arm and the needle still in the vein. :( can't wait to see the tox report from the autopsy.

Same thing basically as Belushi was as doing with Heroin and coke when he died. (Speedballing) They compliment each other. (Narcotics and stimulants). It's nothing new, they are just using a different drug now.
People do it with Percs and other narcotics also. You get a high low high. Ask Belushi.

What Happens When You Mix Cocaine with Heroin?

Lots found slumped over toilets doing heroin too. It was just stronger than they were used to.

If you literally Handle a bunch of fentanyl, ( Think LEO) then touch your mouth, nose, eyes etc.... you can die. One Hundred times more powerful than Morphine.

And the Vodka and Red Bull analogy- people love coke with booze.

So, who knows..... you may have just created something there!!

So a group of our future military leaders ingest controlled substances with near fatal results? As we old soldiers say, Hymn 69!

The story did not say the CPR givers OD’d.
It said they were poisoned.

That's a matter of terminology. Fentanyl is not a poison, so technically you're not poisoned by its use; but it is easily overdosed on, especially when mixed with other, already potent drugs. A lethal overdose could be considered a poisoning, so....

Fentanyl is a legitimate drug used in the administration of anesthesia. Where most opioids and opiates are dosed in milligrams, Fentanyl is dosed in micrograms. One milligram of a particular drug is equal to 1000 micrograms of the same drug. It gets extremely difficult to correctly dose a drug that such a small amount is therapeutic. Fentanyl as an anesthetic agent is liquid, and easier to regulate the dosages given because 1 microgram is a couple of milliliters (cc's) of liquid.

If the cadets knowingly used the drugs in question, they are subject to investigation and punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, as their attendance at the Academy is considered Active Duty Service. I wouldn't want to speculate what their punishment will be.

Young men can make all kinds of stupid decisions. Those cadets will have to live with the results of those stupid decisions for the rest of their lives. They are lucky to be alive. When you choose the behavior you choose the consequences.

This breaks my heart. I’ve been following this thread and the story closely. It’s tragic that some of our countries most promising youths died or had their futures ruined.

Did some of them make serious mistakes in judgements? Of course they did. Did any of them deserve to die at such a young age? NO…

The people who laced the cocaine with fentanyl and/or sold it should be held accountable for the deaths and damages.

Anyone who never made a poor choice when they were young, feel free to continue to condemn these kids. Far too many of use have lost loved ones or seen families destroyed because of drugs. Fentanyl has been produced in China and a lot of it comes in from Mexico. It’s poison…

Amen and Amen!

If you want to see Ruthie and her first responder cousins clench their jaws and slam their eyebrows down just mention fentanyl.

I knew one of those Fentanyl or whatever ODs. White trash, high school dropout, marginally employed, in trouble with the law since he was 15. An excellent example of a Darwin Award winner.
If someone says they reloaded ammunition, ignored the loading manuals' warnings about maximum loads and wrecked their firearm, how much sympathy would they receive? Or deserve?

I do not shed a tear for an OD. Dealt with enough drug seekers and OD's when I worked at the hospital. Get them clean and well and they go right back to it. So no tears.........
