Some of you may remember a thread I posted a few months back where I bought a gun from a dealer in NY, He shipped it Priority Mail, the Post Office screwed up the delivery and sent it back to the dealer. Took 23 days for me to finally get the pistol.

Well, they've done it again. I bought some magazines from .44mag.com in Oregon. Mags were shipped out via 2nd Day Priority Mail. The package got from Oregon to memphis just fine. Tracking showed it arrived at the Bulk Mail sorting facility in memphis at 8:44pm last Sunday evening. And then, according to the tracking, that's were it has sat ever since. Ok, its a huge place, they deal with thousands of packages every day, so I give them the benefit of the doubt and patiently wait.
I checked the tracking this morning and find this:

"The package is delayed and will not be delivered by the expected delivery date. An updated delivery date will be provided when available. Your item arrived at our USPS origin facility in FEDERAL WAY, WA 98003 on June 19, 2015 at 3:19 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination."

WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!
Why is my box now in Washington state???????

Granted, considering the amount of mail they deal with every day, USPS normally does an outstanding job. But Bubba, it seems that when they do screw up, they go all the way! :(

I feel your pain.

I can't get the USPS to deliver to my office. The landlord gave us the address of the space, we printed up business cards. Got with the USPS, nope, you have to take this suite number, OK business cards aren't that expensive. Any parcel that goes through the USPS to the suite number the USPS gave us, gets rejected as address doesn't exist. Junk mail arrives just fine. Fedex, UPS and DHL can find us.

Wait in line at the USPS for kids passport renewal and then deal with the winners working there.

But my home delivery mail carrier will come down my driveway and leave oversize packages plus the mail either in a plastic bag or put them in a vehicle so they aren't visible from the road. We like her.

USPS is horrible. They have sent my packages back, lost packages, shredded my mail...just received a christamas card from my brother six months late.....

....and six days a week they fill my mail box with junk mail and advertisements.

All this and they are subsidized.

Sold a car part to a guy in Okla. he mailed me a USPS MO. It has not arrived yet. They tell him he has to wait sixty days to file for a refund on the MO? I talked to the very nice lady at my PO. I've had other mail not arrive. She looked at my address and said he is retiring soon!!!!

The guy who bought the MO had to pay USPS $6.40 to open an investigation on the lost MO.? He finally got a check from them last week.

USPS doesn't even bother to deliver packages to my house. They always put a notice in my mail box and say we weren't home. MY WIFE WORKS FROM HOME.

They once returned a package from ebay saying my address doesn't exist even though they deliver mail to me Mon-Sat. I have a PayPal certified address and I receive packages from UPS, FedEx or DHL almost every week with no problems at all.

I ship everything UPS, it's usually the cheapest anyway and I don't do mean things to people like sending them things through the Post Office.

:(

I didn't know that USPS would accept packages with firearms.

Just had the same thing happen to me. Sent small package to business address with a suite # and the PO returned it saying incomplete address?????? So why did my 1st mailed package get there the week before?

To many 'for life jobs' in that dang place. Do they go to a special school to learn how to take 60 seconds to stamp an ink pad with a stamp then imprint the paper? Give me a break...

I cringe every time I order something either by UPS or FedEx and they use USPS for the final delivery! I think FedEx calls it SmartPost, and UPS calls it Mail Innovations. Our mail lady is iffy at best...I'm on a guys speed-dial that lives a few streets over from me but with the same house number, he is always getting my mail!

One of my pet peeves when it comes to delivery people whether it be USPS, UPS or FedEx is they don't ring the doorbell when they leave a package on the front steps! With all the news reports of packages being stolen off front porches you'd think it would be company policy to ring the doorbell!

Actually, considering how much they do right, a few mistakes are to be expected.

https://about.usps.com/news/electro...ivery-standards-and-statistics-fact-sheet.htm
In 2014, the Postal Service delivered 155.4 billion pieces of mail and packages. For each product, the Postal Service sets standards pertaining to mail delivery so that customers and mailers can expect
consistent and predictive delivery.

Today, total First-Class Mail is delivered in an average of 2.1 days. Prior to the service standard change, First-Class Mail was delivered in an average of 1.8 days.

https://about.usps.com/what-we-are-...mail-international-quarterly-performance.html
National Single-Piece First-Class Mail® International Inbound/Outbound Combined on-time performance was down 13.0 points from FY14 Q2, with 97.7 percent of all Inbound/Outbound mail delivered within the service standard plus three days.

Their nearest competitors don't move anywhere near this volume.

Thanks Doug!

I want to see everyone here do something 155 BILLION times this year and not make one mistake, not one!

Too many lifers? Really? You want someone new re learning the route and the machines every few years? Or are you willing to leave your job after a few years for someone new?

Mail is read and sorted by machines not people. It would take forever for people to read all the addresses and move the mail to appropriate places and you'd need more people. It's amazing that these machines can read everyone's handwriting and process it all from beginning to end in 2.1 days

I used a 'no junk mail registry' and it significantly cut down on the junk mail. I was still getting the weekly local fliers but they were not addressed to me. After about a month of marking them 'return to sender' my local usps driver got the message.

USPS has very specific formatting preferences for local addresses. Since your mail is sorted and moved around mostly by computerized machines rather than humans, you deviate from those preferences at your own peril.

To get the exact, ideal format for your address, run it through the web page at:
https://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookupAction_input

Note that this will provide you with a nine digit Zip code, which is the best tool for getting your mail delivered quickly and correctly.

if you buy something at a store and they ask for your phone number, don't give it to them. your # links your address to their mailing lists. just tell them no, they don't need to know it.

Thanks for the link. It will be used in my house!

I must be the oddball here. I've only had one bad USPS experience, and that was the fault of the shipper for not packaging the item properly.

I sent a radio back to Uniden for repair the beginning of the month. I used Priority Mail and it arrived exactly when it was supposed to.

Most, if not all, of the items I buy from members here go by Priority Mail, as do the few things I've sold. Never had a bit of trouble.

I've even had packages delivered by them on Sundays.

Package Shipping FUN

Thanks OP for letting me know that I'm not the only one with this problem. I think your package must have ended up in the same place in Memphis as mine did, i.e. "The Lost Package Room", before it was shipped back west to California for some reason?

Here's how the shipping of my 2nd day Priority Mail package went. It was shipped from Arizona to Nashville. It finally showed up exactly 1 month after it was put into the system. I still can't get an answer from the sender, the USPS, or anyone else as to where the package sat from April 8th to April 27?

ENJOY!!!
