I'm usually pretty satisfied with the service of the USPS (except occasionally when I order something from Midway, which is just 90 miles west of me and for some reason the package goes first to Kansas City, which is about 250 miles west of me).

I ordered a dishwasher valve from a company in California and some pistol parts from a company in New York.

Both came within 2 days!

As Winsome Sears says, "Sometimes you're the statue and sometimes you're the pigeon!"

Lately with the USPS, I've been the pigeon! ;)

I'm the statue this week. Two day Priority mail package sent to me from Phoenix ended up in New York for almost two weeks before it was "found", and finally arrived. It's pretty hit and miss these days.

Wouldn't have been so bad but it was a $1300 item.

It's getting back to the late 80s where it would say on the TV screen "allow 6-8 weeks for delivery". Back then you would order stuff, forget you ordered it and then it eventually shows up and then you remember ordering it.

The 80s…ordered a winch for my little toy 4x4 after burying it one too many times.A week later they called saying it was on back order for 6 weeks.I said I’d wait. 2 months later I remembered and mentioned it to my missus. “Oh,they called last week and asked if you still wanted it and I said no”
Wimmin!!

Interesting highs and lows for me last week. When recapped, it’s entertaining.

Sunday night I confirm with a buddy that I’ll buy the gun so I Zelle him the money because Paypal is the enemy. He takes it to his FFL in Florida on Monday morning. FFL ships it Priority.

-UNREAL- it is delivered on Wednesday just outside of business hours. My FFL is a small outfit. So in a miraculous fashion, that’s 1,100+ miles inside of two business days.

On the bad side… local carrier LEFT IT in a plastic mailbox. At a legit gun store with an obvious gun store sounding name. On the good side, my guy hadn’t left yet for the night so he grabbed it and got it inside safely. Also on the good side, he called me to let me know it was there and secure despite postal’s weak effort. On the bad side, he had to let me know that they were closed and due to unforeseen and unplanned circumstances, they would not be open again until Saturday. Not normal, not planned.

So it got there lightning fast but I couldn’t get it any earlier. At least it was locked up inside rather than sitting for the taking over 3 days.

When I picked it up on Saturday they told me that ANOTHER handgun had been left in the box either Thursday or Friday.

Details matter, but they matter more to some than to others I guess. And my FFL has even had a discussion with their BATFE agent assigned to them and his answer was “pffft they are a government agency so… good luck!” :D

That’s funny! :D The handgun is phenomenal but this is the lounge and only rants are allowed so I’ll leave it at that. ;)
