The Arleigh Burke class destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112), entered San Diego Bay on Wednesday, flying the biggest flag I've ever seen on a ship. Tin cans are cool!

I was always the helmsmen during refueling and rough seas due to my ability to read the seas & not getting seasick.
Hit a hurricane coming back from the Med with waves breaking over the bridge. 70 foot + @ times the ship was vibrating & struggling to come back up.
Most fun i ever had with my clothes on. :D

Beautiful sight! I'd think the ship's namesake would be proud.
I also think he would, as much as we are of him. "Murph" was a local boy from my county on Long Island. A SEAL that was posthumously awarded the MOH for his bravery in Afghanistan.
If he'd survived, he would be the same age as my youngest daughter.

Really have to thank Big Wheel Zip. When I looked up the Ware (DD865) I did a search on the Web. Have a reunion this year in Va. All shipmates from all years. Also have quite a bit of my former shipmates E-mails who I served with.. A BIG THANKS. Never would have thought of it if it wasn't for this thread.
