Utah has a non-resident permit process, and many states accept reciprocity with Utah that don't with some other states.
For instance, while Oregon has reciprocity with a handful of states, carrying the both Utah and Oregon permit gives something on the order of 35 now-legal CCW status to those so documented.
Odd as it may seem, Washington does not recognize Oregon CCW yet does the Utah permit. So you are illegal in Washington carrying Oregon permit, but legal if carrying Utah. I don't know about Texas. These regulations change periodically and it's a struggle to stay current on them. Good luck.
Check your local regulations there in Texas. There may be expanded CCW status adding a Utah non-resident permit to your collection. Some states still don't have reciprocity, such as NJ & Ill, AFAIK. Oh, and Kali of course.....
