GOA's lawsuit forces NYC to allow Non-Residents to apply for CCW Permits.

BTW, WHY do we need a Permit at all for something that is a RIGHT as per our constitution. It is a right and not a privilege such as a driver's license.

That's a very old whine that can get you arrested if you try it in New York. Go ahead and carry a gun in NYC and get caught and try that argument. Maybe you'll win......

$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :D

How does LEOSA work for us retired cops in NYC? We are supposed to able to carry in all 50 states as stated by rbmac52 above?

LEOSA has been the law of the land for 20 years. The "I don't want to be a test case" crowd will tell you not to carry. If I go there (my daughter wants me to take a trip there with her) I will carry. I figure after 20 years the test cases are all done, and LEOSA is still there.

I've carried in NYC on regular creds and on LEOSA. Never had an issue, but then again I didn't tell anyone or shoot anyone. Hardest part is talking your way around the magnetometers with LEOSA . . .

Works as it should.

ZERO issues with LEOSA carry in NYC…and the whole state.

Have visited there 20 plus times since LEOSA was enacted.

Again, zero issues.

It is federal law.

Be safe.

As long as you have your retired ID and have shot a recent LEOSA qualification, you "should" be OK. Of course if you go through New Jersey to get there, then don't have any hollow points on you. Except for Hornady Critical Defense FTX with the little plastic tip. That has been granted the New Jersey State Police seal of approval, at least for now.

I'm 22 years retired from a NJ PD very close to NYC. The cops themselves paid little attention to the stupid laws the politicians made. A lot of NYPD lived in Jersey or shopped there etc. And we had cross border investigations going on all the time. NYPD intelligence had long term activity in Jersey City, especially terrorism related. We did cross border training pretty regularly. Their gang units were phenomenal.

All of the departments worked together quite well. In spite of ignorant politicians in Albany and Trenton. Such is police life in the tri-state region.
