I have a spare bedroom I want to use an office. I also keep my reloading stuff in there, and I have been looking for a storage cabinet with lockable doors. Lowes has a Kobalt unit that comes the closest - it is double door, about 48" wide by 5.5' or so tall, 18" deep with 4 shelves (3 moveable + bottom), made of steel.

The problem - the shelves only hold 100 lbs, the bottom only 50. Seems kind of flimsy for $500. It isn't the best looking unit, it is intended for a garage, but I don't really care.

Their wood ones are really just cheap particle-board units from China, so those are off the list.

I guess I'm looking for suggestions.

The 30" wide cabinet has the exact same weight rating. It would cost more but I'd rather have two of the smaller ones in that case. If you bolt them to the wall and find some way to brace the shelves it'll hold more. I did that with one of the pressboard cabinets. Replaced the shelves with plywood. Put some supports in the corners and some extra feet in the center of the bottom shelf.

Check Google or "Travers", Grainger or other machine shop supply catalog, they usually offer a paint and chemicals (fireproof and leak proof) type cabinet.
They do look pretty utilatarian (sp) but, they are well built and should do the trick for you.
edit; Travers didn't show one, but Amazon has several types of the "Fire King" brand, but, they are pretty proud of them, the one I looked at holds 160 lbs per shelf

I have some of those cabinets in my newly finished "reloading etc" room. They are ok and look pretty good...but you will have to assemble them. I like the storage They have and yep...I got a LOT in 'em. Also check out the new cabinet listings by Harbor Freight...branded Icon. Almost anywhere you get cabinets they will probably be made in China. I will post some pics of the room when I get a chance to be home in the next couple of days...Doctors dentists and did I mention doctors?

Been having the same issue trying to find heavy duty garage shelving ........ try shopping on Amazon...... a lot more selection than you will find at Home Dept or Lowes.
Both Costco and Sam's sell heavy duty shelving - as in 1000# per shelf ; not lockable but just good old open rack-type stuff. My reloading benches are made from them as are my work benches
