Received in the mail today, Department of Veterans Affairs Health Benefits Update Form. Required completion. "Federal law provides criminal penalties, including a fine and/or imprisonment, for any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation (See 18 U.S.C. 287 and 1001)". Serious stuff indeed.

Block 1A: Veteran's Name (Last, First, Middle Name).
Block 1B: Veteran's Preferred Name.
Block 3A: Birth Sex.
Block 3B: Self-identified Gender Identity.
Spousal/Dependent information, Block 4: Spouse's Self-identified Gender Identity.

I cannot tell a lie.
I cannot make this stuff up.
All I can do is report the facts.
But at least I get to choose my own really cool name!

Still thinking about that legal name change offered by the VA. I could probably get away with Rooster Cogburn, maybe Matthew Quigley, Harry Callahan could work, but I'm leaning toward BUCK NEKKID.

Whatever I choose, once it is in the VA system it will become just as official as any act of Congress!

Recently filled one out as well. In block 3B I put "see Block 3A."

So if'n I don't lie about "birth sex" the rest are "self identified." Can I put anything I self-identify but change my mind next week? Is that a lie? What if I feel like I'm a dog or a fat tuna down the road? Does that make earlier self-identification a lie? Oh, the huge manatee. Joe

Never sent me a form like that! Do I need one? Do I want one? Never trust them, keep your tin foil handy.

Maybe they only sent that form to the "special veterans", perhaps those who feel some compelling need to "self-identify".

I have to ask, WHY ME?
